Being a horn player, these pieces were almost inevitable. There is a prayerful unaccompanied introduction followed by duets for horn & clarinet, horn & bassoon, and two horns. The piece is concluded by duet (or trio if you’d rather) for horn and percussion that includes an optional improvised swing section.

The five pieces are of varying difficulty and tonality. Two are rather vaguely tonal, one is octatonic, one (the horn duet) is twelve-tone, and one is sort of octotonic. The pieces could be performed as one set or independently.
